Having your Members join a group by text message is a great way to avoid adding those Members to a group manually. The steps below will work if the Member is in or is not in your Yaptap Community. If the Member is not in the Community yet, this will add them to the specific Group and the Members Column in Yaptap. The Community Leader can set the group code when creating the group. It will be the #code that appears below the group name.

1. Have the Members open a new text message on their phone.

2. In the phone number field enter  20166.

3. In the body of the text message enter: Join *YourCommunityCode #TheGroupCode FirstName LastName

Example: Join *yaptap #youth Jon Doe

4. Reply back YES to the confirmation text message

If you are not sure what your Community Code is, login to Yaptap online and look at the code below the Logout button in the top right corner. It is also a good idea to remind people to be careful of their iPhone or Android auto-correcting words which would cause the join text message not to work.
